With isqlperl (the interface to Informix databases for perl 4, mostly
obsoleted by DBI/DBD now) there is distributed a utility called 'sql'.
This is a just what you would want.
I guess it would not take too much effort to port it to DBI/DBD-Informix.
And, of course, throw in some readline-stuff. That would be nice.
