Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

I can't seem to get pam authentication working with informix 9.40 UC2
on linux. I'm
just trying to get simple password authentication working with our
server. We're using pam_winbind.so for most users
Following the limited documentation I have (pam.txt) and the article
posted on the IBM Developworks site about pam
(http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/db2/zones/informix/library/techarticle/0306mathur/0306mathur.html),
I added the following line to
the sqlhosts file:
dbmaster1 onsoctcp dbmaster1 informix_port
s=4,pam_serv=(other),pamauth=(password)
the pam_service in /etc/pam.d/ is called other --
it reads as follows:
@include common-auth
@include common-account
@include common-password
@include common-session
It's failing to authenticate a user when I try to connect in dbaccess,
and
I have no idea why.
Here are a few questions for any one who understands how Informix
interacts with pam:
1) what log file should I be checking for the reason why this
configuration is failing? I looked in online.log and /var/log/auth.log
-- and see no record of the failed
login.
2) what is the meaning of s=4?
3) has anyone gotten pam_winbind to work?
Are there any pam gurus out there? Thanks
