Yes, that makes our life easier. Now I would be very happy, if
someone could describe a solution little deeper for me. (I am very new
in this area, so all information is welcome.)
I have a few days time to specify a system, which includes our customers
data base server and our client program running on a separate
workstation.
We need to read data from data base system, which has the following
configuration:
HW: SUN Sparc
OS: Solaris
DB: Informix On-line 5.0
Our client SW is made by C language and it is running on the following
platform:
HW: HP715/64
OS: HP-UX 9.05
I think, that the best solution is that we need not to make changes to
the SUN Sparc station. Now I have three questions:
1. Can we read data from Informix On-line 5.0 without a need to modify
data base servers's configuration? If that is possible, what libraries
we need to link into our client SW?
2. If we need to make some configurations to the data base server, what
they are?
3. A standard Unix ODBC client sounds a ideal solution for us. Is that
possible?
Best regards,
Ilkka Raisanen
