RE: Urgent: Informix upgrade from 7.24 UC4 to 7.30 UC8

Mosser,
Thanks for your suggestion. I advised my company about this but as they
already have purchased the s/w (7.30 UC8), they want to go with it. By the
way are there any problems/bugs etc in 7.30 UC8. Can we find any info on the
web regarding problems/bugs etc in 7.30 UC8. I have installed it on a test
box and had some users and developers on it for testing the applications.
They are finding it faster than 7.24 UC4.
Thanks again

And 7.31 is faster than 7.30 and 9.20 is faster than 7.31! Informix has
been putting tons of work into optimizing IDS over the last 18 months!

Also, there is an obscure bug in 7.30 that, under
rare circumstances, can corrupt the physical log
and, during a reboot, wipe out system tables. It
took Informix a few versions to fix, but they
figured it was so obscure that no one would find
it before it was fixed.
We did.
My company lost their database during a normal
bounce. Fortunately, we have good backups.
I cannot give you the technical details, but
Informix has downed systems engineers who can.
Do not use a 7.x series version less than 7.31.
