You will lose data. It may not be obvious at first, and you may be able to operate both instances successfully for some period of time, but eventually they will both try to write their own data to the same physical track and sector. Depending on what gets overlaid, you could have bad data returned from a query, or the engine could crash. No error or warning message is given at the time you create the overlapping dbspaces, because the two instances do not communicate between themselves to prevent this. You may or may not receive an error message in the message log when the engine stumbles upon the corrupted area.
