How to avoid SETNET32?
Posted in 1998
Hi Informixers, I'm using Informix-CLI32 2.5 (with Setnet32 version 7.20) under Win95 and NT4.0 to connect a Visual Basic 4 application to an Informix server. Setnet32 is used to set CLIENT_LOCALE to "1011" to convert the German 7-bin ASCII on the Online 5.10 server to the Windows ANSI character set (needed for correct display of German umlaut characters). This worked very well as long as only one database connection was needed on any one of those PCs, since the setting of CLIENT_LOCALE seems to be system-wide. Now I need connections to different database servers from my PC, and I'm looking for a way to set CLIENT_LOCALE directly inside the VB code, so it is independent from the settings in Setnet32. Any ideas?
