Hi, everybody. Please tell me how to make available the maximum memory for IDS 7.31 under Unixware 7.3. There is 8 GB of RAM. I need to give as much as possible, 6 GB for example.

I mean IDS 7.31 (32-bit of course) and SCO Unixware 7.1.3 (32-bit also). If I catch your thought I can use 3 GB only?

Some platforms didn't even get that far. -- Cheers, Obnoxio the Clown http://obotheclown.blogspot.com
The memory limit for 32bit processes is a factor of the CPU and the OS, but the limit is definitely less than 4GB and can be as low as 2GB and is also affected by OS tunables that can limit shared memory allocations below the maximum possible and by the available address space due to shared libraries, code space, stack, static data and other address space users. If you want to test it the maximum that your OS configuration and default shared libs will allow, I have a shared memory allocation test app I can send you. Just email me directly. Upgrading to a 64bit IDS version is a license swap and shouldn't cost you anything - assuming your CPU's are 64bit capable or course - however, note that 7.31 goes out of support later in 2009. You may want to plan an upgrade to IDS 11.50 (not sure that the later releases still support UNIXWARE though, you may have to go to an upgrade to Linux as well).
