Hi there !! I have couple of questions for new DATA REPLICATION site here... 1> Do I really need to have mirrored chunks in DR ? 2> Do I really need to have mirrored chunks on Secondary server ?? Thanks in advacne Girish -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own

Oh yes !! rootdbs, phylogdbs & datadbs minimum on the primary server there's always good arguments for the loglogdbs as well ) - remember, if any of the disks that the chunks are on fail, TIMMMBBBEEERRRRRRR !!! Online will not be happy - ( yes, yes I know about DATASKIP & ONDBSPACEDOWN but these don't work too well when the root chunk goes down ). "Hardware or Software mirroring" is the only question you should be asking yourself, and not "should I do it...". Will you be using CDR or HDR ? > >2> Do I really need to have mirrored chunks on Secondary server ?? Not really. If its going to be used as 'read-only', mirroring the secondary server will not aid you in your quest. In the event that DR fails ( network down, DR becomes out of synch ), you may need to re-sync they primary & secondary. If you are using asynchronous replication you need to look at Enterprise Replication Manager. I don't know much about Enterprise Replication but I know that its more flexible, particularly if you are replicating bits of the database, rather than the whole thing. > >Thanks in advacne > >Girish > > >-----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- >http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own
