There is an ansi standard for this that Informix have implemented. As far as I know the OpenLink drivers also implements this as the ANSI CLI and ODBC are supposed to be more or less the same. I could be wrong on this though. : which :provides ODBC connectivity. We have it under Windows NT; I don't know what :other platforms it is available for. The CLI is not an MS Windows only product, but available on Unix as well, as are the OpenLink products. :CLI includes an ODBC Informix driver, apparently by Intersolv (judging from :the appearance of "Intersolv" in some ODBC error messages I've seen :-) ). But it uses I-Net which the poster didn't want to. The ODBC part of it used to be from Visigenic, but in later versions they are from Intersolv. (There where some kind of problems with Visigenic.) :I've had mixed results from CLI. We've installed it on two NT systems here :and it works great. On a third system any attempt to connect with our server :results in a "memory allocation failed" message (on a system that shows 12MB :available physical memory and 58MB available paging space -- right...). They are somewhat hard to install correctly and get to work, but I also have no idea on this problem. "Works great" is also questionable if you have ever read the whitepaper from OpenLink about what an ODBC driver can (and should) do. :So far Informix has offered no response to be problem report, so I have no :idea what the cause is.
