RE: DBSPACETEMP Problem.

To my understanding you should be in a logged database. If this
is the case use the following sintax if you want your temp
tables to be created in your temp dbspace(s):
(1) select * from orders into temp duh with no log
(2) create temp table (col1 int, ...) with no log
Otherwise (if you do not specify the "with no log" option) the
temp table will be put into rootdbs (case (1)) or the dbscpae
where your database resides (case (2)).

Subject: DBSPACETEMP Problem.
I am having a problem with Informix Dynamic Server Version 7.31.UC2
on a Solaris 2.6 machine. I have created 2 1g temporary chunks called
temp1 and temp2, whose onstat profile is listed below:
c296e50 3 2001 3 1 N T informix temp1
c296f10 4 2001 4 1 N T informix temp2
I changed the DBSPACETEMP variable using onmonitor to be
temp1:temp2, saved the changes and reinitialized the server
(via onmode -ky;oninit). However, the temp spaces are not used.
I tested by doing a 'select * from orders into temp duh'
and watched the free space for the chunks, and informix is using the
root dbspace instead of the temp spaces.
No errors are reported in the online.log file about
being an invalid tempspace, and the online.log does confirm that the
DBSPACETEMP parameter was changed.
I also tried setting DBSPACETEMP to just temp1 and still got the
same problem.
Does anyone have any ideas what is causing this problem or what I
need to do to alleviate the problem?
Thanks,
--Steven
