Ah, supported versions of Oracle.... I ignore Oracle desupport (or obsolence or whatever they are called now) and patch notices because there are too many and I can't get downtime that frequently. In this way Oracle is sort of like Microsoft (who came up with this strategy first, I don't care... I don't like it, it doesn't work well in a business, 24x7 environment). This is something Informix DBAs deal with in a very limited form (my opinion from experience only) and this is usually pushed by the software vendor whose app is running on informix, not by IBM. I could be wrong, or could have been lucky, we'll see if others post comments. Luckily I let SAP call the shots on my Oracle versions.
