Strange characters in ATS file

IFX version = IDS 9.40.UC2
OS version = Solaris 8
We have recently upgraded from IDS 9.3 to IDS 9.4.UC2. Since then I noted
funny characters in the ATS files created by the replication server when
aborts occurs.
I have created a replicate for the following table:
create table sample
( col1 serial not null,
col2 integer,
col3 date,
col4 datetime year to second,
col5 date,
col6 char(20),
col7 date,
col8 datetime year to second,
primary key (col1)
) with crcols lock mode page;
When I do an insert into the table and the transaction aborts on the target
server, all fields defined as type date is represented by some strange
characters in the ATS file.
insert into sample values (0, 1, today,
current year to second, today, "sample1", today, current year to second)
ATS File:
46;1;b"_àc×ï¸d;2004-07-09 10:58:23;b"_àc×ï¸d;sample1;b"_àc×ï¸d;

I will welcome any ideas as to how to pinpoint the problem and solve it.
