plogspace vs dbspace

Hi, I feel ashamed but I found out recently that the location of the physical log it is supposed to be a plogspace not a dbspace like I was using until now , as I was taught. Does someone know the benefits of using a plogspace over a dbspace beside the fact that the database server increases the size of the physical log as needed to improve performance as IBM says on its website ? Thank you.

I read about it at the time it came out (12.10.xC3, Sept 2015) but decided it
wasn't for us though.
It seems to be part a "new" method of dynamically increasing the size of the
physical log by placing it in a new dbspace type and using the expandable
chunk feature. While normal chunks are expandable, expanding the physical log
usually requires use of "onparams -p -s".
