HELP - RESTORE A TABLE
Posted in 2004
Question: can a single table be recovered from an ontape -L 0 level-0 archive on IDS 7.31? Answer: no, not directly. The suggested workaround is to restore the old backup onto a separate system (or take a fresh archive, restore the old one, unload the table, then restore the current archive again) and reload the extracted data manually. The IIUG arcunload tool was mentioned but Art Kagel said it is unmaintained, built only for Solaris/IDS 7.1x. An IBM developer noted true Table Level Restore was planned for IDS 9.50.

Can one table be restored from a backup created with ontape -L 0 (On version
7.31UD)?
Silvana
In a word, no!
The only way would be to resore to a completely separate system and extract the
data then reload manually.
Alternatively,
1. archive current
2. restore old backup
3. extract data
4. restore current from 1.
5. load data from 3.

I'll try till I die or die trying.
No good. Arcunload is VERY out-of-date and will not work with current
OS
releases or IDS versions. It was compiled on Sun/Solaris 7 for IDS 7.1x only.
It is no longer maintained and contained proprietary Informix source so we
cannot maintain it ongoing.
