Three to four years ago, when I first started to follow this group, it was rare for there to be more than 25 posts come through each day, it was easy to keep up--didn't take much time, the scope of the questions was narrower (as somebody mentioned earlier in this discussion) and the number of products from Informix was quite a bit smaller. Necessarily things have changed over the year(s), not for the worse, but because they had to. The FAQ was put together to answer FAQs, and it looks to me like it worked. There are a lot of new questions I can't answer. Today I see 50 to 75 posts come across daily, this takes a lot more time parsing through and makes it a lot more difficult to remember the names of people (thus the group has become slightly more impersonal), the scope of the questions asked is much broader, perportional to the number of Informix products, and I am still doing basically the same stuff as I was four years ago with Informix: 4gl programming with the Standard Engine. I keep up with the new products but so far have not had any reason to learn any of them and thus am unable to answer many questions. I don't think things have changed for the worse, they've changed because they had to. Just my $.02. -Todd > Regards > Neil > >-- > >Neil S.
