Informix Replication

I'm looking at setting up replication with HDR (High Availability Data
Replication) between our production HP 9000 and our D/R HP 9000. We are
running HPUX 11.23 and Informix 10.00.HC5. In the past, I've used the
Ignite process from HP to make a bootable backup tape of production and
restore to D/R. This took care of all my volume groups and HPUX system
files. I then just restored the database with ontape. This is a long
and tedious process but it does work well. This has been our Disaster
Recovery procedure when preparing for oncoming hurricanes.
Now I want to take advantage of replication. Our vendor, Jenzabar has
told us we can not use Enterprise Replication. I can't remember why it
does not work. From some of the reading I've done, it doesn't look too
hard to set up HDR. We have a 100 MB pipe between our production server
and D/R. I'm thinking the pipe should be sufficient for replication.
Right now I have both servers on the same network so I can reach them
both.
I'm just not sure how to deal with some of these items.
1. HP 9000 is the hostname of production, drhp 9000 is the name of
D/R
2. 10.2.24.64 IP in production, 10.2.25.64 for D/R
3. Since the secondary, D/R will be read only, can the Informix
server, service and protocol be the same?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Because your DR site is remote, I would suggest going up to 11.10 or 11.50
and setting up the DR server as an RDS server rather than as an HDR
secondary. The full duplex protocol that the RDS server uses is better when
the secondary is not local to the same data center. You could also set up a
local HDR secondary, but that's not necessary.

One correction - RSS (Remote Stand-alone Secondary) is the correct term=
(not RDS). RSS is designed to be used as a disaster recovery solution.=
Conceptually it's same as HDR, with some added advantages. Here is info=
