Informix 5.10uc5, hpux 10.20 Each night we do a Level 0 backup of our database and every so often our backups run much much longer than the usual 2-1/2 to 3 hours, they run for 6 hours. I remember somebody else had posted a similiar problem a while back. Has anybody else experienced this problem and what if any was the solution. TIA David Kulkarni __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! Messenger. http://im.yahoo.com
David, if you're doing continuous logging (tbtape -c), you can eliminate the need for doing a level 0 archive every night and get on a rotation where you do a level 1 (after a level 0) followed by a level 2 archive on consecutive nights. This would significantly decrease the time required as the levels 1 and 2 archive take less time than level 0 (unless you have VERY active tables). The only drawback is that you would need to keep at least three sets of tapes instead of one. Sometimes I think you have to march right in and demand your rights, even if you don't know what your rights are, or who the person is you're talking to. Then on the way out, slam the door.
