We are planning to use MS Access, Q+E's ODBC and Informix's INET for some client stuff. But, the presentation I went to on Powerbuilder at least 2 years ago mentioned that Powerbuilder directly accesses several RDBMS'es including *I think* Informix. If Powerbuilder can directly talk to Informix I-NET, use that. The ODBC layer will decrease performance and ability to use the engine to its fullest. If necessary later to change databases, the ANSI SQL will go directly over, and the Powerbuilder layer takes care of communicating with SQL*NET, or whatever. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ Jim Burks jburks@promus.com ~ ~ Database Administrator / Systems Engineer ~ ~ The Promus Companies, Inc.
