Hi all, how can I turn on AutoCommit after I did a BEGIN WORK or the database is ANSI (AutoCommit turned off by default)? There is no AutoCommit. You MUST either COMMIT or ROLLBACK WORK in ANY logged database, Informix or ANSI mode. Art S. In the non-ODBC world, Art is technically correct - there is no AutoCommit. ODBC has AutoCommit as an attribute, so I assume the Informix ODBC drivers support/emulate it. However, you get the same net result as AutoCommit On once you do COMMIT or ROLLBACK in a regular logged database. There's no non-programmatic way of simulating AutoCommit in a MODE ANSI database. Yes, I do know about this -- DBD::Informix has to handle AutoCommit and it is a complete PITA. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v1.00.PC1 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h> PITA: The A stands for 'posterior'.

I didn't use the ODBC driver, but JDBC which is implemented following the ODBC design. JDBC also allows to set AutoCommit ON. I testet it because I could hardly believe it, and it works. Thank you both for your help.
