Yes. As long as the archive is less than 2Gb. (A limit of lseek). Create
the file and chmod 660 and informix informix.

It might also be necessary to set the atributes for the file to 664
informix informix. That's what I had to do for log backups to disk per
friendly advice of a newsgroup reader.

IDS 9.21 will have >2GB support in all utilities including
ontape.
