Safe to kill sqlturbo process?
Posted in 1997
I'm using Informix Online 5 (HP-UX 9) and am under the impression that doing a `kill -9' on an sqlturbo process is a major bozo no-no, and can shut the database server down if the process holds a latch or is "inside a write call". My question is: is it safe to do a simple kill? This sends the SIGTERM signal to the process, which I believe is an accepted method of allowing a process to terminate gracefully. Thanks.
