Re: Exclusive user mode possible ?

You can revoke all grants except informix (or whoever owns the database), bring
the engine to qiescent mode, and back to online mode, take your dbexport and
then grant all the permissions back. This *will* cause a service outage to your
clients during this window, however.

Subject: Exclusive user mode possible ?
Happy 00 from Norway
Every weekend we are dbexport'ing, zipping and moving our 15 databases
to a test-server where we are unzipping and dbimport'ing all of them.
(SUN & SUN with Informix 7.31 TC4)
Our problem is to eliminate db logins - user/clients, batch-jobs etc.
while
our script is running.
(cannot dbexport in single user mode)
Is it a solution to restart the informix server / switch to an
alternative
onconfigfile (with another instance-name) while the job is running?
and/or - alternative sqlhosts, services ...?
Somebody have a proposal or a solution ?
