Re: Onbar and Storage Manager Backup to different server mpossible?
Posted in 2005
Hi,
if you are using ISM (IBM Informix Storage Manager), then you have to
use a procedure called "imported restore" to restore a backup on
a different machine. This is mainly because the hostname is different,
as you have already noticed.
The "imported restore" procedure is described in the manual
"IBM Informix Storage Manager Administrator?s Guide",
chapter 5, section "Transferring Data with the Imported Restore".
All this is due to the fact that ISM is a limited "facility", as Jonathan
Leffler already has noted. The limitation making this procedure
necessary is that ISM cannot do remote operations.
You can get yourself a commercial version of Legato Networker
which does not have such limitations and does not need a
complicated "imported restore" procedure.
Regards,
Martin
