Point-in-time recovery of database/dbspace

Hello again, I've just come across an article in technotes that mentions point-in- time recovery of a database/dbspace. It doesn't go into any depth so I'm asking if this is possible, and if so how. I'm sure it can be achieved using a 2 instances (on different machines), but am interested if it is possible using a single instance. Thanks as always for your help Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

OnBar can restore to any point-in-time, obviously after the base archive the restore begins with, by scanning the logs as they are being restored, stopping logical log restore at the appropriate point and then entering the engine into fast recovery to commit and rollback transactions in the logs. Only one server instance required. Art S. Kagel
you have to be using Informix-OnBar as the backup utility, not ontape.
OnBar came out in version 7.2X I believe.....

This is because all dbspaces must be in consistency with rootdbs. :-( > I'm sure it can be > achieved using a 2 instances (on different machines), If so how? > but am interested > if it is possible using a single instance. See above.
