I was trying to find some problems we have here with an Informix On-line
Dynamix Server on a Solaris SPARC, and when I do a onstat -a | less I get at
a point this:
DDR -- Down --
There are 2 servers found
Server : ultra208
Server Number : 0
Server Type : ODS
Server Status : Up
Server Version: Informix Dynamic Server Version 7.30.UC6
Shared Memory : 0xa000000
INFORMIXDIR : /space/informix
ONCONFIG : /space/informix/etc/onconfig.std
SQLHOSTS : /space/informix/etc/sqlhosts
Host : ultra208
Server : max
Server Number : 1
Server Type : ODS
Server Status : Up
Server Version: Informix Dynamic Server Version 7.30.UC6
Shared Memory : 0xa000000
INFORMIXDIR : /space/informix
ONCONFIG : /space/informix/etc/onconfig.ultra208
SQLHOSTS : /space/informix/etc/sqlhosts
Host : ultra208
What does this mean? Do I have two servers up? There should be only one, at
least thats how I configured it.
TIA.

The "DDR" message is the result of a "previous" command (onstat -g ddr) and
has nothing to do with the servers listed below it.
As for why you show two servers, my guess is at one time someone either
tried to bring up a second instance of informix on this server or perhaps
initially brough up informix without a DBSERVERNUMBER.
At any rate - it's not doing you any harm. If it really bothers you, the
next time you bring Informix down, delete the .conf.xxx and .infos.xxx files
from $INFORMIXDIR/etc. They will be recreated without the extra entrys the
next time the engine is brought up.
