Hi, In Informix 4gl when I fetch a record having 2000 characters(field of type nchar(2000)) from the cursor into a variable of char(2000), the data is truncated to 255 characters. The cursor has been declared like this- declare c_question scroll cursor with hold for statement_1 open c_question if status=0 then fetch first c_question into appp_question.* .. .. Is there any solution for this? Can I declare the cursor explicitly to hold 2000 characters? Usha
I think you have to use TEXT operations to do what you want instead of char Usha M Rao <usha_mr@trigent.com> wrote in message news:8e3ihf$a9m$1@news.xmission.com... > > Hi, > In Informix 4gl when I fetch a record having 2000 characters(field of > type nchar(2000)) from the cursor into a variable of char(2000), the > data is truncated to 255 characters. The cursor has been declared like > this- > > declare c_question scroll cursor with hold for statement_1 > open c_question > if status=0 > then > fetch first c_question into appp_question.* > .. > .. > > Is there any solution for this? Can I declare the cursor explicitly to > hold 2000 characters? > > Usha > > >
Show us the declaration of the record appp_question and of the table(s) from which the data is being fetched. At a glance this should work. Art S.
