Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
John Smith asked how to find the installed Informix edition. Art Kagel said the onstat -V suffix shows it, such as DE Developer, IE Innovator-C, WE Workgroup, EE Enterprise, AEE Advanced Enterprise. Mike Walker and Paul Watson said no suffix means Enterprise Edition, as confirmed for version 14. Ramon Rey linked a page covering up to 12.10. Answered.

John:
The onstat output does indeed tell you what "Edition" you are running. Here is my test instance which is running the Developer Edition:
$ onstat -VIBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 14.10.FC4W1DE
Note the "DE" at the end indicating Developer Edition. Others are:
DE - Developer Edition
IE - Innovator-C Edition
WE - Workgroup Edition
EE - Enterprise Edition
AEE - Advanced Enterprise Edition
For the Express Edition and Advanced Developer Editions I don't know the code character as I have never seen either Edition running. I would guess they are "XE" and "ADE" respectively, but that's a guess.

I think that when there is no suffix on the version, that that is Enterprise Edition:
IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 12.10.FC6XC <-- custom build, but no suffix
IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 14.10.FC3

Agree with Mike - had a customer raise a PMR to confirm this with 14 and the new license key model
