I did many upgrades on Solaris and Informix OnLine but not SE. But your
informix upgrade stays in 5.X. Hence, I believe you are right: it is an
easy upgrade. Otherwise, you have to check out the Migration Guide.

If I were you, I would wait until SE v5.07.UC1 is on your hand and read
the release note. It happend to me several times that the release note
addressed particular patches that tech support did not mention (or
know).
If I were you, I would back up OS (i.e., tar) and database before doing
anything. I don't know the exact command for you to do backup, but I
believe it is not necessary to dump tables through dbexport.
Normally, I upgrade OS and then Informix. In this case, I believe you
are right: Informix and then OS. If the informix upgrade succeeds, my
guess is the OS upgrade will not cause MAJOR problem. But are you aware
that there are things you need to do before upgrading 2.3 and 2.4 to
2.5? If you call Sun, they can fax the upgrade procedure to you (if it
is applicable to your environment).
