has anyone out there implemented or evaluated Red Brick. We have been recommended the product by a DW consultancy firm but cannot find a great deal of research or real case studies for it. Steve
Steven, I work for a company that bundles Red Brick with our product. I think we're one of the few companies -- if not the only -- that does. I do have a slight bias, as I use to work for the company. The product works very well, but lacks may of tools that most databases have, and most database administrators want. Some examples are: an embedded programming language, triggers and stored procedures. However, its bulk loader is great -- beats Oracle by about 3x in our tests. If you have a lot of data to more, its one of the best products out there. It queries fast too, if you know how to tweak the query in the right direction. Writing good queries can be difficult if you can't find anybody that knows how to read a query plan, and there are very few Red Brick people out there that can help you with that. If your consultants really know Red Brick, and know how to right a good query, you should be in good hands. STA Steven Price wrote: > has anyone out there implemented or evaluated Red Brick.
