Oh man, you REALLY need to take my internals class in Denver, this is all
covered there. It looks like someone sent you their chunk files. Do you even
know what version owned that engine?
If not you can guess by running the following:
dd if=csdata/ifmxdata/rootdbs_dat.000 bs=2k count=1 2>/dev/null |od -c
You will see something like:

Right here^^^^^^^^^^^^^ is the version number that last updated this root
chunk.

If you do not see this output, especially if it's all zeros, then the root chunk
was created with an offset and you'll have to add a skip=<npages> or increase
the count=<npages> until you find that copyright page.
If it's not 9.40 then you will have to get the exect version that created the
server. You could try to bring it up with 9.40 anyway and the new server will
try to convert the disk space to the latest version, but that's a gamble. You
might also try dumping page 6 (the copyright page is page zero) which contains
the paths where the server will expect to find the disk chunks and copy the
files to those paths. Finally, you'll need a compatible ONCONFIG file. The
onconfig parameters that were used to last startup the engine that owned those
chunks is on page 1 of the root chunk. They are stored as 'PARAMETERNAME
value' and each parameter/value pair is NULL terminated. The most important
parameters to reset to their original settings are:
ROOTNAME, ROOTPATH, ROOTOFFSET, ROOTSIZE, PHYSDBS, PHYSFILE, LOGFILES, LOGSIZE
DBSERVERNAME, DBSERVERNUM, DBSERVERALIASES and most others can be configured as
you would for a new server.
You'll have to create appropriate sqlhosts file entries.
Of course all of this assumes that these files are indeed IDS disk chunks. If
not go back to the user who sent them to you. If they are and you can configure
and start a new server using these files, mazel tov. You can then export the
data anyway you want.
