you can define a device in your storage manager as a filesystem and set your log pool to use that device only. however no matter WHAT you do, you will always need a storage manager and therefore if your storage manager fails, your entire backup solution fails. we have 2 storage managers running here where I work, and in the event of a storage manager failure on one side, we point the client process to the other storage manager and that one takes over while we fix the broken storage manager. this wreaks havoc on the storage manager indexes which forces us to do a level 0 immediately after the broken storage manager is brought back online but the solution works well. -FPL >>> "Clifton M.
