Excalibur textblade and datatypes

I'm using Excalibur Textdatablade 1.30 TC5 with a 9.21 Informix Server and Webdatablade 4.10 on NT I would like to create etx_indexes on fields of the HTML datatype, but the textblade only seems to be able to create indexes on clob's and varchar's. When I try to cast the HTML to a clob using the '::' operator I get an error. Does anyone know whether or not it is possible to create etx_indexes on fields of the HTML type or just any other type but varchar and clob?
