Informix, ASP, and BLOBs, oh my!

Here's what i'm trying to do. We have Informix Online 7.3 running an IBM AIX. We are accessing the data with ASP driven web pages on an NT web server with the Informix ODBC driver. It works in that you can read the data and update the data from the web pages using ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) pointing to that ODBC driver. The problem comes when we throw blobs into the picture. We have loaded pictured into BLOBs with 4gl and can get them to display on web pages and with the Informix Enterprise Command Center. The interesting part comes up when we want to add pictures to the database from a web page. There are tools which can upload a file to a web server from a computer using IE and NT technologies and we've got that much done. But i'm trying to program an ASP component in VB 6.0 (the only development tool we have) to load that picture into the BLOB. Again we are trying to use ASP with that ODBC driver. It loads something but its not a picture. If the picture is 10k to start with, it loads something twice as big, i.e. 20k and it doesn't seem to be a picture. The Enterprise Command Center and my picture displaying web pages are unable to display it. Why would it be doubling in size? All the other (text) fields update just fine. Any help on how to do this would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure someone out there must be doing this. -Matthew
