The old Guide was specific to 5.XX, and I'll be updating it :for 7.XX (maybe even XPS if there's interest). Don't forget Universal Server if you can. It's a 7.2 engine as far as I understand, but it probably have it's own requirements. Informix should realy set you up with a free version just to be able to write about it. :My question for this newsgroup, which is my number one source of info :about what's really going on is: : What do I need to put in it? :For all of you who have been so nice and so supportive of the first project, :what do you want to see? My initial plan is to come out with a second edition :that covers both 5.XX and 7.XX. Is that reasonable, or would you like a :separate book for 7.XX? I know the first book was very weak on I-Net :(I didn't understand it then) and that I need some more illustrations, so :those items will get into the book. I'm also planning to talk more :about debugging and performance-tuning ESQL/C applications. Please don't make it too spesific to ESQL/C, but generally usable for other languages as well as far as that is possible. You might also whant to include some connectivity issues for non Informix languages (Java, PowerBuilder, Delphi, VB). This seems to be hard issues for many. Different people in this group should be able to give you input on how they have accomplished this and some of the problems involved. If you included a few tips for each of these (like using RDO and not DAO in VB) the book might be even more valuable to a vider audience. : (for those :of you who may remember this far back, I'll also revise references :to "secondary chunks" <g> ) :I'd appreciate any input from you, either by e-mail or by posting here. :Thanks for your continuing support!
