Informix ODBC 3.31 - Bug with memory leak
Posted in 2000

We got following message from an application developer: Problem with Informix-Client Version 2.40 with ODBC-Driver Version 3.31 on Windows98/NT: With each call of ODBC-function SQLColumns there will be used 20 to 100 KB of memory which will not be released. This function is needed a good many times in our programs. The amount of memory needed grows, the application slows down and will crash if running a longer time. With version 3.30 this problem did not exist. Is there somebody who can help us with this bug and/or can determine if this is a known bug. If not it maybe a good idea to report the bug to Informix. TIA Reinhard
This bug is not in the v3.31 release notes, and I didn't find anything similar on the Informix defect database. They are supposedly releasing a v2.50 SDK with v3.32 ODBC driver in late July. You should probably report the details to Informix so they can check into it.
