Why should everybody log off while doing backup? Isn't online backup one
of Informix strong points? We surely do it (with version 5 and ontape),
and it slows the system down slightly.
As far as I understand, if you back up the entire instance, you can
restore up to certain point in log files (which translates to certain
time). If one wishes to restore only a certain database, one should back
them up separately (under version 5 the only solution was to have
separate instances.)
