Cooked files are slower than block devices are slower than raw disk. Also, cooked files get buffered by the OS as well as Informix, which can lead to swapping (or at least wasted memory). It is not impossible for the total hit to exceed 35%. >While we are at it, is it easy to manage dbspaces and fragments with >cooked file system as compared to raw disk. What about adding extents >or dbspaces. Is cooked file system easier to handle. I have only used raw disk since the advent of OnLine 5. It's very simple, except for when idiot sysadmins mount and format your raw disks. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
