Informix WAN or LAN

Hi, I have question about informix performance via wan or lan. Basically, my corporate office wants to take my informix database from my office to another office in southern california. Currently I have about 100 users that use this machine to query information from the database all day long. I am concerned that if my database is remove from my office that my users will be impacted because of the speed of the WAN. Currently my users are all on 100m bit connections and the WAN connection to Southern California is only a single T1. My offices are about 500 miles away. Can anyone give me any techinical reasons why my database should stay where the users are? Can anyone direct me toward any techinical resources about WAN's? In my experiences WANs are not as reliable as LANs but I need some technical jargon to put into a memo. Thanks in advance... Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Share what you know. It is going to be slow. Period. You can ameliorate this somewhat if you use stored procedures extensively to reduce the amount of data that is ultimately transmitted to the clients but the will only help a bit. Art S. it depends on the type of application you are running. we have 100+ telnet users ( distance 2500km away) connected to 128KB framerelay trunk and everybody is happy it just depends on the environment <mr_potato_head@my-deja.com> wrote in message news:7r3d8i$n6r$1@nnrp1.deja.com... > Hi, > I have question about informix performance via wan or lan. > Basically, my corporate office wants to take my informix database from > my office to another office in southern california.
