You have to make sure both machines have entries for each other in hosts. You have to pick a service number and enter it into /etc/services. You have to setup sqlhosts on both machines for tcp connectivity. There was a buch on examples in the older Informix Online Administrator's Guide Vol 1 for 7.1 You may want to check if 9.3 docs also have the examples. However, you have to have a very good reason to split data like this. The penalty is a slow join as the data has to travel to the initiating server before it is joined. In 7.2 I also run into problems with outer joins between two servers. I have not tried that with 9.x yet. HTH Michael
