Mail Link to SMTP Undeliverable Message
Posted in 1999
Reinhard Habichtsberg and Manel Falco reported receiving an undeliverable-mail bounce, containing a copy of their article, for each post to the newsgroup, from a sender at another company. Richard Spitz explained the newsgroup is gatewayed to the Informix mailing list where a subscriber's account was failing, and advised ignoring it. Mehdi / QueriX suggested turning off confirmed receipt.

Dear Newsgroup - Members, since a few days I receive a mail with the above topic for each article posted to this newsgroup. It contains a copy of my article. It comes from 'Vinayak Laud' vlaud@afl.co.in. Could anybody explain what this implies. BTW, a mail with the same question was not answered yet. TIA, Reinhard

Reinhard, this phenomenon is explained by the fact that the c.d.i newsgroup is gatewayed to the Informix mailing list. Apparently this guy Vinayak Laud has subscribed to that list and now his account has problems, generating the error message. In general, the mailing list administrator(s) are doing a pretty good job, so such error messages are not happening too often. I administer some rather small mailing lists myself and am confronted with non-functional mail accounts and such error messages almost daily. Just ignore the messages. They are a nuisance, but nothing more. You can turn off confirmed receipt on your email and that may help. -- Compliments of QueriX -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- QueriX 4GL Compilers are Informix 4GL Compatible.
