MaxConnect is a connection server that allows the database server to a much larger number of users than without MaxConnect. For a given number users (connected through TCP/IP) it will reduce the CPU load on the database server by shifting connection management from the database server to the MaxConnect layer. MaxConnect is supported with database server version 9.21 and above. MaxConnect was used in last years world record benchmark with Baan ( http://www.informix.com/informix/press/1999/oct99/benchmark.htm - the press release uses the preliminary name Informix Connection Server), and was used to support more than 18000 SQL sessions on a 8 CPU box. Hope this helps, Heiko
