system hangs during accessing a particular table

Sorry for bad english What .system table ? A sysmaster table ? I do not know any table beginning with "." in the sysmaster nor in any other database. Is it a "guru" tip ?? I can just give you a general warning... Some "system" tables are not tables but values that can reside in memory and seen as if they were in a table. Protect your request with isolation against dirty read. "Particular" jointures with these tables can crash informix. That all I can say to you...
