OLEDB vs. ODBC

Hello! Just one question about informix client connectivity. Which way is faster to work with informix (On-Line 7.23), via ODBC or via OLEDB? I connect on informix database server from windows application by using ADO. I use informix Client SDK 2.5, which has ODBC and also OLEDB driver. I can use OLEDB provider for ODBC, or Informix OLEDB driver. What is the best? The problem is that our db-admin has some doubts about installing oledb scripts on sysmaster database (scripts, that add a few tables and stored procedures, which are required to access data via oledb). He says that odbc is faster than oledb so there's no need to install those scripts. Do you have maybe experiences with both ways of connectivity? Thanx! Bogdan
I installed OLEDB some time back, I had no problems with it. Microsoft report that OLEDB is supposed to be a lot faster, then again if you use the OLEDB for ODBC then you are adding another layer to the ODBC, so try and stick with the more native version of OLEDB provider that Informix have provided. OLEDB gave me the option to convert table queries on the fly to Excel spreadsheets or other formats with a provider for it. I had no problems installing the scripts, if I remember rightly, there should be a drop script provided. There is no harm is trying this out in an contained environment and dry and do a large suck. Anyway, ODBC is the old inferior way of doing connectivity, Microsoft are moving forward with the COM model with OLEDB. Ensure that the provider is installed properly". My understanding that OLEDB should be of equivalemt or faster, but it can be used for heterogeneous queries on MSSQL7 and also can reveal the database objects better. I like yourself would like clarrification on the matter and to solve my problem.
