Hi, Group Is there anyone can help me to understand what "type-4" or "class-4" means in "Informix-Driver for JDBC(Type-4)1.22" ? I read this phase in "Informix by example --- How to Use the BEA WebLogic Server with Informix Dynamic Server.2000 and the Informix-Driver for JDBC " web page. Thanks in advance for help. The "Type" of the driver has to do with implementation: Type 2 : Contains Non-Portable Code, I.E. a JDBC-ODBC bridge Type 3 : Portable, but requires a piece of middleware, I.E. VisualCafe DBAnywhere Type 4 : Portable, 100% Pure java implementation with direct connection to the database You'll also run across the "Level" of the Driver. This refers to which pieces of the JDBC Specification are implemented. The current Informix JDBC driver is Level 2 compliant, and requires Java 2 (JDK 1.2) platform. --mark Harry Sheng wrote: > Hi, Group > > Is there anyone can help me to understand what "type-4" > or "class-4" means in "Informix-Driver for JDBC(Type-4)1.22" ? > > I read this phase in "Informix by example --- How to Use the BEA > WebLogic Server with Informix Dynamic Server.2000 and > the Informix-Driver for JDBC " web page. > > Thanks in advance for help. > > Harry > SS8Networks -- ============================================================== Mark Steen Principal Systems Engineer Informix Software, Inc. 8310 N.
