I'm coding client-side java applets which will connect to the server-side Informix Dynamic Server v7.22 via JDBC. This is the setup: The java applets have been coded to JDK1.1.x and the JDBC classes of the Informix SDK v2.00 or "Object Interface for Java". These applets will be running in a browser on Win95/NT client. Using the "INFORMIX-Driver for JDBC" as the JDBC driver and running Informix-Connect v2.00 on the client, I am directly connecting to the Informix DS v7.22 database which resides on the Solaris 2.5.1 Sparc server. Question 1: If you have done/attempted this (or similar), do you have any info on problems, performance issues, optimization, measurements of any sorts, in fact any info on this subject whatsoever? Question 2: I need to perform multiple insertions on a table, what is the most effective way of doing this via this JDBC using the Informix-Driver for JDBC? Let's say I have the relevant data client-side, and I wanted to insert 1,000 rows into the server-side table. What would be the most effective way of performing these insertions? Preferably within a transaction which will be committed once all insertions have been successful, or rolled back otherwise. Preferably avoiding the ugly solution of executing 1,000 separate insert statements via informix.api.Statement.exec(). Cheers, Chas
