Hey, give Carol a break! It's a fair question. Since 9.20 is either IDS.2000 or Foundation.2000, and IDS/UDO is 9.1x (or possibly IUS 9.0x), there's an simple accurate answer - No. However, given that it is IDS/UDO, you could write one, or you could poke around the IIUG web site (http://www.iiug.org) to see whether there already is one written; I'm fairly sure that I've seen such a function somewhere in my travels. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.62 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
I did create an upper function for our ids/udo server, and sent it to her. I stood on the shoulders of giants tho, and took some ideas from the how to articles posted on idn, particularly the soundex stuff. I had written it in normal c, without knowing anything about the special datatypes, which is all and everything for these types of routines. If it works, and she finds it usable, she can submit it if she wants, with all the appropriate cavaets, and non-warranty legalize.. i took a quick peek at the iiug upper function, and can only surmise it must be slooooooow. this however, is fast...!
