The RUN command forks a subshell in which the command is executed. The shell terminates when command execution is finished. The environment variables you set in your above examples are only valid for that subshell and are not exported back to the shell under which your 4GL program is running. Therefore, you cannot set environment variables for your 4GL program that way. BTW: Is there an equivalent "fgl_putenv" function available for 4GL?
