ontape -r Linux problems

We've been faithfully making ontape -s level 0
backups. The hard drive "blew out" last week and
trying to to an ontape -r appears to go well, but
the log read "Physical Recover completed
successfully with 0 pages restored".
The next message is that the Physical log is too
small and it exits with a return code = 126.
There's then nothing in the database. Can anyone
help me get through this urgent problem.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Before you buy.
Do you have your old (from the running system)
onconfig and sqlhosts files in place ?
This is absolutely necessary.
