Online V7.11 problems

Hi, I work in the manufacturing industry and use informix online. I have had a peculiar problem which is that we have recently developed and want to implement an application which uses Gupta SQL-Windows > I-Net > Informix Online V7.11 (This denotes the type of connectivity also). Some bozo tried to load data from flat files which was not a problem but in case of an error in the data he used a WHENEVER ERROR err_routine and the err_routine tried to put the error data in another table which in turn just kept looping and made the engine crash (what the hell is that? yes, engine crash). I tried my level best reducing transaction time, resourcse available, etc... but the process never got timed out or interrupted and continued on till the engine crashed. My local informix(india) have looked over the onconfig, online.log and said "Yes, Tonto you have error, will be OK after upgrade to 7.12. Will come in two weeks plus or minus ...". Sounds good, but my worry is what if the engine crashes again and most of all I wait for two weeks which is sunk time.
