Need help echoing input from isql command

Here at the office I am working on tracking down a problem related to data stored in an Informix database table. Usually, I store my query in a file whose name is (something like) query.sql and then I run the following command : isql name_of_database <query.log >results.log 2>&1 My question is : is it possible to get the SQL command stored in "query.sql" echoed by "isql" so that they show up in my "results.log" file ?
how about running cat <query.sql> >> results.log that will put it at the end of the results. If you want it at the start then cat <query.sql> >results.log isql name_of-database <query.sql> >>results.log

Hmm, dbaccess supports a -e commandline option to do that, perhaps as it's
predecessor isql does also?
